The MG NOW CAM is a custom-built WiFi camera module created by Mariano Goni Magic specifically for covert mentalism performance with NOW! ULTRA.
It’s a small, self-contained unit — battery-powered, with its own built-in WiFi access point. No router, no internet, no setup required. The moment it powers on it creates its own private wireless network and your iPhone connects directly to it.
The performer hides the NOW CAM anywhere — inside a prop, behind an object, under a table, pointed at the performance area — while their iPhone stays completely out of sight, in a pocket or face down on a table.
When NOW! Ultra is set to WiFi camera mode, it fetches a frame from the NOW CAM on demand or continuously via autoscan. Apple Vision runs OCR on that frame exactly as it would with the phone’s own camera. The performer never needs to point their phone at anything.
A single button on the device puts it into deep sleep for battery conservation, and wakes it again with another press. A built-in LED blinks rapidly on power-on to confirm it’s ready. Battery level is reported to the NOW! Ultra app and displayed on screen.
The result: the camera that reads the spectator’s information is completely invisible. The performing iPhone is completely invisible. The revelation appears on hidden Bluetooth devices before the spectator has any idea what just happened.
